Ben has been a student at NBS for over ten months following an accident which meant he was unable to walk. Through lots of challenging rehabilitation work Ben was able to walk with support from his physiotherapists and take part in the Great North Mini Run on 7th September.
Before the run Ben learned all about its history and about Brendan Foster who founded the race back in 1981. Ben was supported to write to Brendan Foster to tell him about his lessons and taking part in the race. Amazingly, Brendan replied and sent Ben a signed photograph of himself with Fudge the mascot of the Great North Children’s Hospital!
Well done Ben!
