As part of our weekly trip to Kirkley Hall students had the opportunity to hold a range of animals. We went to the discovery room first and got out Belle the royal python. We all got to hold Belle and learnt about her scales and how to carry out a health check on her. We then went to the rodent room where we got to stroke and cuddle the chinchillas, tenrec (which we learned is more closely related to an elephant than a hedgehog!) and a mouse. We were really excited to see Elvis the porcupine when we were leaving (as he is nocturnal he is usually asleep!) who was having a little walkabout his enclosure.
